"Variations On A Sacred Theme, Vol. 1" In the case of "Variations on a Theme by L.D. Edwards," Lex
has used a compositional device common among 18th and 19th century
composers, wherein the original melody is stated close to its original
form and then transformed through successive variations into a new
theme. You will recognize the original theme in the composition and
then hear it developed into a more expanded work. "Variations On A Sacred Theme, Vol. 1" CD 1. Lead, Kindly Light 2. Meditation (Sweet Hour of Prayer) 3. Impromptu in F (Do What is Right) 4. Abide With Me; 'Tis Eventide 5. Jesus of Nazareth 6. Reverie on a Theme by McGranahan 7. Serenade in C (How Gentle God's Commands) 8. Variations on a Theme by L.D. Edwards (I know That My Redeemer Lives) 9. Concerto on a German Hymn for Piano and Orchestra (All Creatures of Our God and King) (Back to Top) |

"Variations On A Sacred Theme, Vol. 2" Lex was always struck by the beauty of "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief," but at the same time puzzled by what seemed to be a cross in purposes; that being a melancholy lyric set to a melody in a major key. Somehow the feeling and the message didn't seem to match. He felt that a minor melody would better capture the spirit of the song, and thus, "Rhapsody on a Theme by George Coles." Using solo instruments extensively throughout the album, Lex has created an intimate, expressive setting for the listener. In contrast, with full symphony orchestra, bagpipes and choir, Lex concludes the album with the finale piece, "Fantasy on a Scottish Folk Tune." "Variations On A Sacred Theme, Vol.

"Caroling, Caroling: The Alfred Burt Christmas Collection" Alfred Burt was a jazz trumpet player, the son of a minister, and a family man, who also wrote Christmas carols. What could be more American? Although he died at a very young age, he left an American Christmas legacy that continues to touch the lives of many people. Millennium sings the Alfred Burt carols the way Al composed them. Their harmonies and SATB parts have not been altered. Some orchestral arrangements have been added to expand the beauty of the carols, but the integrity and inspiration of the composer have been carefully maintained. "Caroling, Caroling" CD |
